for the 2007 New York International Latino Film Festival
Eagle Pass, Tx. - - The independent film “Ash Wednesday: Capítulo Unus” will have its World Premiere at the New York International Latino Film Festival in New York City.
The New York International Latino Film Festival will run from July 24-29.
Calixto Chinchilla, the Executive Director of the festival stated: "This year the festival received a record number of films making this year a difficult, yet beautiful year to program."

Synopsis:
Ash Wednesday: Capitulo Unus is a highly
stylized thriller of an underworld of unspoken brutality, secrets and shame.
A seemingly innocent reckless act starts an explosive sequence of life-changing
events for one family that leads to an international threat of a longstanding
crime world.
The cold-blooded crime world will never be the same.
Film critic Bob Polunsky says: "It has more punch and moral value than most crime movies... The movie ranks alongside such Hollywood films as "The Departed" in as much as its "thriller" and "shocker" values develop together..."
"Ash Wednesday: Capítulo Unus” is directed by Ricardo Mendoza, and it is his second feature film. The first, El Escape of De Los Santos (El Escape De Los Santos) participated in the Hollywood DV Festival, and was picked up for distribution by Venevision International. The movie was released in 2006 on DVD nationwide in retailers everywhere, as well as on video on demand through the traditional outlets, hotel chains and on Virgin America airlines.
